10 Important WhatsApp Tips & Tricks You Need to Know!

WhatsApp is a free app owned by Meta (Facebook) that allows users to send text messages, photos, videos, documents, audio, and video instantly and easily over the network. We have detailed some important tips and tricks for this in the article.

i). Read message without blue tick

Step-by-step:

1. Open WhatsApp → Settings → Privacy and off the "Read Receipts" option.
2. Now, you can view the messages you see privately, and the blue color will not appear.

Additional tips:

1. Works for individual chats only (not groups).
2. You can also view messages using Airplane mode, then open a chat → close the app → turn off Airplane mode.
3. To check the message status, long press on the message you sent → tap "Information" to see the delivered or read time.

ii). You can read the message without opening the chat.

Step-by-step:

1. When a message arrives, don't open WhatsApp.
2. Swipe down the notification bar - read the full message there.
3. Or, turn on Airplane mode, then open WhatsApp → read the message → close the app → turn off Airplane mode.
4. The sender will not see blue ticks because the chat is not open online.

iii). Can lock private chats

Step-by-step:

1. Open WhatsApp → The chat of the person you want to lock.
2. Long press and hold the chat (or swipe left depending on your phone).
3. Tap “Chat Lock” (or “Fingerprint/Face Lock” option in Settings).
4. Then, set up fingerprint or face recognition.
5. Currently, authorization is required to unlock the chat.

iv). You can edit a sent message

Step by step:

1. Open WhatsApp → You can also chat with the sent message.
2. Long press on your message
3. Press “Edit” .
4. After making changes, send it.
5. The message will be updated before sending a new message.

Note: A sent message can only be edited within 15 minutes.

v). Disappearing Messages (Auto-delete Mode)

Step by step:

1. Open WhatsApp → Chat → Contact/Group Info.
2. Tap “Disappearing Messages”.
3. Select the duration: 24 hours / 7 days / 90 days.
4. Messages will be automatically deleted after the specified time.

Bonus tip: This only works for new messages.

vi). Secret Mode for Media (View Once)

Step by step:

1. Open a chat → Attach media (photo/video).
2. Tap the “1” icon / View Later.
3. Send the media.
4. The recipient can only view it once, after which it will automatically disappear.

vii). You can send a message to yourself

Step by step:

1. Open WhatsApp → New Chat.
2. Select your number from your contacts.
3. Now you can send yourself notes, files, or reminders.

viii). Use WhatsApp on multiple devices

Step by step:

1. Open WhatsApp on your main phones.
2. Go to Settings → Connected devices.
3. Tap “Connect a device”.
4. On your other phone, PC or tablet, open web.whatsapp.com Or install WhatsApp.
5. You just need to scan the QR code using your main phone.
6. That’s it! Now you can use WhatsApp on up to 4 devices, even if your main phone is offline.

ix). Archive a hidden chat

Step by step:

1. Swipe a chat → Archive (or long press → Archive).

x). Search for secret keywords

Step by step:

1. Open a chat → Tap the search icon.
2. Type a keyword.
3. WhatsApp will only show messages with that word (works for text, attachments, media, documents).
